I heard about Shoei and Pheniks through a recommendation from a colleague. Shoei had been working with the young people in her Alternative Provision Academy who had mostly been excluded from their secondary schools. I contacted Shoei, met him for a chat the next day and he was working with our children within the week. For anyone thinking about working with Pheniks, get in touch with Shoei, arrange a get together and take it from there. Simple.

Our centre provides education for children excluded from (or a serious of exclusion from) primary schools. The transition to secondary school at the end of year 6 is a big event for these children and can lead to raised levels of anxiety over the summer term. Shoei worked with our class teachers to put together a bespoke programme to support the children with the transition. He was flexible and recognised the specific needs of the group. The children and staff developed relationships, confidence and skills that they took with them into the transition. Shoei's values align with our own. The children related well to him from day one and he integrated into our centre like one of the staff.
