PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID - 2 DAYS
The Paediatric First Aid qualification is delivered over 2 days, learners will be assessed as per the following learning outcomes (Unit 1 & Unit 2).
It is possible for learners to complete just Unit 1 over 1 day. Any learners Learners completing only Unit 1 will receive an Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid.

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider

Be able to assess an emergency situation safely

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who were choking

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child with external bleeding

Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock
-
Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries

Unit 2: Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies

Learning Outcomes:

Be able to provide first aid to an infant of a child with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints

Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected head and spinal injuries

Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose

Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness

Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is experiencing extremes of body temperature
-
Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who has sustained and electric shock
-
Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with burns and scalds

Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected poisoning
-
Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with anaphylaxis
